about

A journey into the shadowy world of Cyanbaal
Cyanbaal is an Electro-Dark Wave project from Germany founded by Patrick M. Wenzel aka Georg Kasperski in 2014. Since 2015 Zattna Uhm is Part Time Member.
While the first releases (Madame Degradation EP, Living Tunnel Album) were still very dark and experimental, over time clear and sometimes more catchy, danceable song structures became established.
The interest in different electronic music genres and Patrick M. Wenzel's joy in experimenting lead to very different and songstructure and mood. This makes it so difficult to assign Cyanbaal to a certain genre.
From exciting electronic arrangements reminiscent of the 80s New Wave / Dark Wave, to deep dark, partly sterile, cold sounds leaning on the fear pop, to catchy Electro Dark Wave / Post Industrial Songs make the music of Cyanbaal varied and unique. Cyanbaal releases will never sound boring or uniform.
In Cyanbaal's songs little bizarre or surreal stories are told. Initially, scary, dreamlike images were created in the head with the help of text fragments. Meanwhile not only the lyrics take up more space and are perfectly staged by the two very different singers.
In the black and white world of the miserable and lost figures of Cyanbaal, macabre, tragic and at times romantic lyrics dominate, but also black humorous hints resonate again and again.
Again and again, close to madness and the subconscious, the listener encounters psychologically disturbed subjects like from Lovecraft's stories about cosmic horror or Tim Burton's fantastic magical worlds.
The stories are carried by, in part, brute, cold song structures, hammering percussions, driving beats, accompanied by dark, sometimes disturbing surface sounds.
Analog and digital synthesizers as well as samplers are used for the partly unorthodox sound production. What is integrated into the song structure or helps to create the right images and moods is used.
Break the veils of Cyanbaal and sink into a world of obscure sounds.

(From overweight angels, bomber pilots and cultists)
Cyanbaal "Life Without Exit"
After the recently released first album "Living Tunnel" in January 2019 (not on label) "Life Without Exit" is the second album which was released under the label darkSIGN Records.
With this album Cyanbaal also delivers some more catchy and more clearly structured, danceable songs that have lost nothing of their bizarre, dark atmosphere. Still the listener dives through a veil into the fantastic, obscure and sometimes romantic world of Cyanbaal.
Driving beats, hard percussions and woven surfaces accompany you through the eerie stories of lost beings who seek their salvation in dark religions or drug addiction. The last hours of a pilot in World War II, the story of a broken-hearted man who gets lost in his life, but also the humorous story of an overweight guardian angel will be accompanied by sounds that create fantastic images in your head.
Typical for Cyanbaal, also in this album, is the wide spectrum of vocals. Sometimes it is the deep voice of Patrick M. that captures you and sometimes the boyish, innocent voice of Zattna Uhm that accompanies you into this bizarre world.
